Obligatory Welcome Post
This is the obligatory welcome post. I'll use it to answer a question. Why "Bassists of Earth." Well, Bassworld, Bassplanet, and a bunch of other domains are already active. EarthBass wasn't. That's the most simple answer, but actually, it's a pretty good name. The bass is a universal instrument that takes many forms. From the bass sitar and sarod of Carnatic music, to the giant bass viols of European orchestral traditions, and the modern bass guitar, the instruments in the below-middle-C range play an important role. The bassists of planet Earth, whatever their instrument, provide the fundamental foundation for all other instruments across the audible spectrum.
As for me, I'm a lifelong guitarist and bassist. I took up the bass almost fifty years ago when, as the guitarist in a high school jazz ensemble, I had to step into the role when our bass player graduated. Playing the bass made me a better musician overall and I had a blast along the way. Since the COVID-19 quarantine, I spent more time playing bass than I had in previous years and I rediscovered my passion for the instrument. I also expanded my bass collection and I enjoyed exploring the range of modern and vintage instruments.
I hope you enjoy your visit and return again soon. I will try to post new content as often as I can and keep things interesting.
